The Drake Devonshire
Literally our neighbours. We’ve not yet had to ask them for a cup of sugar, but they’d probably oblige. The Devvy, as we like to call it, has a gorgeous restaurant and bar that serves contemporary cuisine that is regionally sourced. They’ve always got beautiful art on rotation and the general store is a great spot to pick up souvenirs. Did we mention they have free parking? Though it’s really a beautiful stroll if you’ve got the time to take getting there. We love the Drake!
Prince Edward County is a Designated Viticultural Area in Ontario with close to 40 wineries and counting. Our winemakers here in the County are true pioneers; they’re tenacious, innovative and passionate. The limestone-rich soils of P.E.C produce wines with an unmistakable sense of place. The natural minerality of the soil is highlighted in the wines along with other flavours developed from the nutrients and minerals that the grapes absorb as they grow. Each glass of wine is a crash course in the bio-diversity and uniqueness of the County. Some call it drinking, we call it Research.
The County is home to the world's largest bay mouth barrier dune formation. You’ll find three expansive sandy beaches that some say are among the best in Canada. Outlet Beach is perfect for families; it has shallow waters and a gentle drop off. You’ll find it juts out nicely into Lake Ontario which makes it a bird migration hotspot in spring and fall. Bring the bird watching goggles and hold onto your chips.
